Most of our work is done from our offices in Exeter, which is situated in the south-west of England in the County of Devon, by fax, phone and E-mail. Customers do from time-to-time venture westwards and are always welcome to peruse the shelves to find materials to enhance their collections or holdings. We deal in rare historic or significant original music materials. Our stock of many thousands of items is changing constantly and includes first and early editions of significant composers, and of music literature from the sixteenth century to present day, together with a vast selection of works in hopefully every genre by important and less well known figures of every period and tradition. In addition to printed materials we carry autographs, manuscripts, copyist manuscripts of works unpublished, unknown or unjustly forgotten. Other materials include autograph letters of composers and performers; collections of original documentation or archives of correspondence relating to all aspects of music. We also have a large quantity of ephemera - paintings - portraits - programmes - costume designs - tickets as well as opera, ballet and oratorio libretti.
Other activities of the business include the valuation of libraries and collections for the purpose of insurance or probate and the negotiation of sales and purchases. We attend all the major auctions as representatives of institutional and individual collectors throughout the world.
